Osteopathy Treatment
“A natural medicine which aims to restore function in the body by treating the causes of pain and imbalance. To achieve this goal the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner relies on the quality and finesse of his/her palpation and works with the position,
mobility and quality of the tissues."

The Benefits of Osteopathy for Newborns
The birth process is one of the most physically demanding events we ever experience, and for newborns, it can be particularly stressful. As the baby passes through the birth canal, the soft bones of the skull often overlap due to the contractile forces of the uterus. This natural "molding" usually resolves on its own through feeding and crying in the days following birth. However, in some cases, these strains remain.
Certain birth factors can increase the likelihood of unresolved strain, such as:
- Abnormal fetal position during pregnancy
- Difficult or rapid deliveries
- Forceps or vacuum-assisted interventions
- Breech or face presentations
- Premature birth or cesarean deliveries
Osteopathy recognizes that retained molding in the skull, along with restrictions in the body, can contribute to a variety of common infant issues, including:
- Reflux
- Colic
- Difficulty feeding and latching
- Vomiting
- Irritability
- Constipation
- Poor sleep
- Ear infections
- Torticollis (neck stiffness)
- Plagiocephaly (misshapen skull)

Osteopathic treatments gently address these tensions, supporting the baby’s natural development and helping alleviate discomforts that can impact their early days.
Treatment for Children
As the child grows, unresolved strains may lead to abnormal tension in the body. In older children, osteopathy may be used to treat those suffering from learning difficulties, ADHD, scoliosis, growing pains, congestion, ear infections, frequent colds and digestive issues. Osteopathy works with the body's natural drive toward health and well-being. This drive is strong in children and they often respond quickly to osteopathic treatment.
Treatment is beneficial in helping children as their body's go through rapid growth spurts and to help realign the body after falls and injuries. Resolving strains in a child can help prevent problems from developing at a later age or in adulthood.
